IMS/Dry Needling
  • Intramuscular stimulation (IMS) or dry needling is a therapeutic technique involving the insertion of a fine sterile needle (ie. an acupuncture needle) into muscle tissue to release shortened muscle fibers. Our physiotherapists (Kelsey, Jordan, Lissa, and Dustin) utilize this technique to decrease tension in muscles that may be compressing nerves, restricting joint mobility, or otherwise causing pain and irritability. IMS can be extremely effective in the treatment of various conditions from headaches to tennis elbow to low back pain. When combined with the appropriate exercises it can provide long lasting results.

Pelvic Health Physiotherapy
  • Pelvic Health Physiotherapy is a specialized area of physiotherapy practice which aims to restore function to the muscles, ligaments and connective tissue in the pelvis. Pelvic health concerns, including incontinence and pelvic girdle pain, are quite common but unfortunately not often talked about or treated. Dysfunction in the pelvic floor can significantly impact individuals both physically and emotionally. Current literature supports pelvic floor physiotherapy as the first line of treatment for incontinence and pelvic pain.

Manual Therapy
  • Manual therapy often includes joint mobilization, a hands-on method of increasing movement in a stiff joint which requires an in depth knowledge of the anatomy of each unique joint. It can also involve soft tissue release methods like massage and manual trigger point release. Physiotherapists receive hours of in depth training in manual therapy and it, along with prescription of therapeutic exercise, remains at the core of all of our treatments.
Functional Movement Assessment
  • The purpose of a functional movement assessment is to highlight inefficiencies which could put a person at risk of injury. It can also be a useful tool for improving general physical health and performance in sport. Anyone can receive a screening assessment. Using standardized protocols, each area of the body will be screened for mobility, stability, proprioception, and movement control to help us to profile you and create an individualized program

Therapeutic Pilates
  • Following a comprehensive patient history and objective assessment, a treatment plan consisting of a combination of manual therapy and individually tailored pilates exercises is implemented. Physiotherapists trained in the STOTT PILATES® curriculum learn a systematic movement-based approach to assessment and treatment and are able to provide safe, guided and specific exercises to help patients take control of their own rehabilitation and learn tools to prevent future injury. Specific stabilization training has been shown to effectively reduce pain, disability and recurrence of musculoskeletal injuries.
Professional Bike Fitting
  • A professional bike fit includes a comprehensive history of you and your bike and a thorough assessment of the side view (seat and handle bar adjustments) and front view (pedal and cleat adjustments). The goals of a bike fit are to help improve comfort, reduce pain, and improve performance on your bike. When a bike fit is performed by a registered physiotherapist it can be submitted as "physiotherapy" under most extended healthcare plans (* you may need a note from your doctor for some extended health care plans).
